H B K CONSULTANTS, LTD.

Mr. Best has over 35 years of experience in the engineering of mechanical/electrical systems for industrial, commercial, institutional, laboratories, high rises and retail buildings.

Mr. Best began his career in 1983 as a Junior Designer for an engineering firm and worked his way up to being a Vice President before leaving to start H B K Consultants in 1995. His 35 plus years of experience includes a number of diverse projects including apartment buildings, churches, office buildings, prisons, retrovirus laboratories, hospital laboratories, hotels, high rise buildings, industrial buildings, state and federal government buildings, fast food restaurants, fast food restaurant prototypes, specialty restaurants, prototype retail projects, specialty retail projects and roll out retail projects.

From the beginning of his career, Mr. Best has been involved in the use of computer systems to generate accurate building HVAC load information and life cycle cost analysis, thus ensuring the best economically feasible system for each individual client. His knowledge of computers also allowed him in 1985 to start for his previous employer an experimental group of three computers equipped with AutoCAD. This computer knowledge has allowed him to keep pace with the rapid changes in the way architects, engineers and clients do business in today’s world.

Since the foundation of H B K Consultants, Mr. Best has been responsible for establishing company engineering standards and systems conceptualization on all major projects. Mr. Best's approach to engineering has been based on the idea that "quality and scheduling starts at the beginning, not at the end of a project." He accomplishes this by listening and guiding the client and the HBK design team from conceptualization through construction. This approach has allowed Mr. Best to design projects big and small; simple and complex; and to continue to grow and learn.
